Serena won for 27 minutes
The world number one Serena Williams made the first step toward the calendar Grand Slam.
At the start of the Open Championship of the United States she won with 6:0, 2:0 and reject of the Russian Vitalia Diatchenko after injuring of her right foot.
Serena was on the court only 27 minutes and won the 32 of the 37 rallies of the match. Diatchenko admitted that she has received the injury during the warm up.
"It was very strange to play in such a match. But at the same time, I continued to be focused because you never know what can happen," said Williams.
She has achieved a 22nd consecutive victory in Grand Slam tournaments this year. If she would win in New York, she will become the first tennis player from 1988, achieved a Slam.
The next opponent of the American is the Dutch qualifier Kiki Bertens, after she side Mirjana Lucic-Baroni with 3:6, 6:5, 6:2.
