Hingis and Paes champions at mixed doubles

The Swiss Martina Hingis and the Indian Leander Paes won the mixed doubles title of the Open Championship of the United States to assert their dominance this year. They triumphed in the third tournament of Grand Slam after Melbourne and London.

At the final by fixed-games in New York Hingis and Paes defeated the American Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Sam Querrey with 6:4, 3:6, 10-7.

In the first two sets each of duets won the part with a single breakthrough. In the long tiebreak the Yankees led with 4:1 points, but their opponents managed to catch them.The decisive move for the outcome of the game was at 7:7. Then Paes made a re-tour winner of serve of the two-meters Querrey and then she himself scored the both points in her submission.

Martina has won a first title at the US Open since 1998. Her partner, who is 42 years, has taken a second trophy in New York at the mix after the success in 2008 with Cara Black.

The 35 years old Hingis could leave the US with two titles. On Sunday, she will play the final by fixed-games of the women doubles. Together with the Indian Sania Mirza, they both face Casey Dellacqua and Yaroslava Shvedova.
