La League can teach Premier League competition
There are a number of factors to consider when thinking about what makes a league better than another, but over the years Premier League has been talking about as a race where everyone can beat everyone. This, of course, applies to every league, but to a lesser extent to English. The idea that there is more competition in PL than other leading championships in the continent, is being smashed in this season.
There are currently six unbeaten teams in the big leagues in Europe, half of which are from England, with Juventus, Borussia (Dortmund) and Paris Saint-Germain also running without obstacles such as Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea. This is the first time in the history of English football when three elite teams made their first 12 matches in the championship without any defeat. Having three unbeaten teams is unprecedented, but even if you have two, it is quite unusual. This is the 27th Premier League season and only once before two clubs have reached th is stage of the season without losing -;Arsenal and Liverpool in the 2007/08 season.
Oddly, however, neither of them won the championship according fixed football contacts title at the end, falling under Manchester United and Chelsea;the two finalists in the Champions League the same season. Arsenal and Liverpool may have been difficult to break at the start of the championship, but in no way dominated like the current elite.
Premier League had more competition in the early days. In the first season, 1992/93, the Top 3 at this stage -;Norwich, Blackburn and Coventry -;had accumulated five more losses. It was not until 1995/96 that the club reached this stage of the season without defeat -;and it was Nottingham Forest, who finally finished the 9th, and in the season thereafter fell.
Today`s table for the provisional ranking -;with three unbeaten teams after the 12th round -;is in immense contrast to the beginning of PL. In the first decade of the race there were only three unbeaten teams in total:Nottingham Forest (1995/96), Arsenal (1997/98) and Aston Villa (1998/99). And only Arsenal finally triumphs with the title.
The picture is just as worrying this season and the bottom of the table. None of the seven clubs there -;Newcastle, Burnley, Crystal Palace, Southampton, Cardiff, Huddersfield and Fulham -;no more than 9 points after the first 12 rounds. The winning points come only from the clashes between them and their record against top teams is terrible. This week played 29 matches against Top 6 players this season and took only one point of 87 possible -;the equals of Crystal Palace vs Arsenal (2:2 at Selhurst Park). The collective goal difference in these 29 matches is -69.
The teams at the bottom do not fail just against the best in the league. They have problems in general. None of them have more than two wins out of their 12 matches, and the group has 11 wins in 84 matches (most of them are in their direct clashes). Also none of the five teams at the bottom of the table have a victory against a representative of the first half.
The inequality between the best and the rest in Premier League looks even brighter when we compare to the other leading championships in Europe. Especially La Liga has been written off by many in England for lack of competition, but fans in Spain now enjoy unpredictable and crazy
